National Security Adviser Khalilur Rahman, who also serves as the Chief Adviser’s High Representative on Rohingya Affairs, is scheduled to attend a grand military parade in Beijing on September 3. The event will mark the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War.

Leaders from 26 countries are expected to join the celebrations, including Russian President Vladimir Putin, Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.

“Eighty years ago, the Chinese people waged a courageous resistance against Japanese aggression and secured victory in the people’s war,” Hong Lei said, underscoring the significance of the commemoration.

As part of the celebrations, China will also host a gala at the Great Hall of the People on the evening of September 3, featuring cultural performances highlighting the nation’s history and resilience.

Culture and Tourism Vice-Minister Lu Yingchuan and Major General Wu Zeke, deputy director of the Leading Group Office of the Military Parade, were also present at the press briefing.

China has said that an estimated 35 million people were killed by Japanese forces between 1931 and 1945 during World War II, making the anniversary a solemn occasion of remembrance as well as a show of strength.
