A rally was held at the Rohingya refugee camps in Cox’s Bazar, where community leaders urged unity among refugees and called for the prompt repatriation of Rohingyas to Myanmar.
The gathering took place on Saturday morning (April 25) at Camp-13 in the Thaingkhali area of Ukhiya, organized by the Rohingya community group RCPR. Speakers at the event emphasized the need for a safe, dignified, and voluntary return to Myanmar’s Rakhine State.
RCPR Chairman Dil Mohammad, along with other leaders, stated that Bangladesh cannot be a permanent home for the Rohingya population, reiterating that their rightful place is in Myanmar. They called for coordinated efforts between the Government of Bangladesh and the international community to accelerate the repatriation process.
The speakers also expressed concern over the law and order situation inside the camps. They highlighted the importance of raising awareness among Rohingya youth to prevent involvement in criminal activities such as violence, killings, abduction, drug trafficking, and gambling.
Community leaders urged stronger social initiatives to steer young people away from crime and promote stability within the camps.
Leaders and members of various Rohingya youth and social organizations attended the rally. The speakers also expressed gratitude to the government of Bangladesh for providing shelter and humanitarian support to the displaced population.
