The Arakan Army (AA) said they captured all three military bases of the junta in Rathedaung, 20 miles north of State capital Sittwe, on March 17.

They mentioned that around 200 soldiers from the junta escaped by using warships.

The statement said that on March 17, 2024, at about 4 pm, they took control of all three battalions in Rathedaung, Rakhine State. It took them about two weeks to do this, even though the enemy fought back hard.

Around 200 soldiers managed to get away using warships. But the AA found the bodies of some Muslims who had been trained by the junta, as well as the bodies of junta soldiers. But local muslim community claimed that junta compelled them to join army, they had no choice. However weapons, ammunition, and military equipment were seized.

The AA said they're now focusing on capturing another military base called the 552nd Light Infantry Battalion.

The junta, which is losing control in Rakhine, keeps hurting civilians. They attack schools, hospitals, and religious places, and they're committing war crimes every day.

Because of these attacks, more innocent people are getting hurt every day.
