A Bangladesh Air Force (BAF) F-7 training aircraft crashed into a school compound in the capital’s Uttara area on Sunday afternoon, prompting a swift response from the military and emergency services.

According to a brief statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the aircraft took off at approximately 1:06 PM before crashing inside the premises of Milestone College in Sector 17 of Uttara around 1:30 PM.

Though the number of casualties has not been officially confirmed, eyewitnesses reported that several students were injured in the incident. Personnel from the Bangladesh Army and eight firefighting units responded immediately, initiating evacuation and rescue operations at the site.

“The plane appeared to lose control before plummeting into the school building,” said Saadman Ruhsin, an employee at a nearby recruitment agency. “There was panic, but the fire service and army personnel quickly began moving students and guardians to safer ground.”

Witness accounts described scenes of chaos as army members carried injured students to waiting rickshaws and private vehicles for emergency transport. Local residents also joined the effort in assisting with first aid and evacuations.

Officials at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport confirmed the crash but said investigations are ongoing to determine the cause. Authorities have yet to provide further details on the pilot’s status or the condition of those injured.

The Bangladesh Air Force operates several Chinese-built F-7 aircraft, typically used for training purposes. Accidents involving these jets have occurred in the past, raising questions about their operational safety.
