The Bangladesh Army and the United States Army Pacific (USARPAC) have concluded their joint military exercise, Tiger Lightning 2026, aimed at strengthening bilateral defence cooperation and enhancing operational readiness for regional security and humanitarian missions.

The closing ceremony of the exercise was held on Wednesday at Jalalabad Cantonment in Sylhet, according to a statement from the Bangladesh Army.

Brig. Gen. Md. Humayun Kabir, Director of Military Training at the Bangladesh Army Headquarters, attended the ceremony as the chief guest and presented certificates and commemorative insignia to participants in recognition of their successful completion of the exercise.

The training, which began on July 19, brought together members of the Bangladesh Army's Para Commando Brigade and personnel from the U.S. Army Pacific and the Oregon National Guard.

A total of 180 military personnel participated in the exercise, including 92 members from the Bangladesh Army comprising para commandos and subject-matter experts from various formations and 88 personnel from the U.S. Army Pacific and the Oregon National Guard.

The exercise focused on expanding military-to-military cooperation, improving joint operational capabilities, and enhancing preparedness to address shared security challenges.

Bangladesh and the United States have maintained close collaboration in areas including regional and global security, counterterrorism, disaster response, and humanitarian assistance. The Bangladesh Army said the exercise reflects both countries' commitment to working together to respond effectively to natural disasters and other emerging threats.

Senior military officials from the Armed Forces Division, Bangladesh Army Headquarters, Sylhet Area, and the U.S. military, along with invited guests, instructors, and trainees, attended the closing ceremony.
