Bodies of five fishermen have been recovered, while search efforts continue for five others still missing after six fishing trawlers capsized during a severe storm in the Bay of Bengal on Friday.

The victims identified so far include Mohammad Jamal, 37, Nurul Amin, and Mohammad Abdul Karim, 35. Authorities recovered two bodies from Laboni Point on Friday, another from Nazirartek Point on Saturday morning, and two more from Inani Beach later in the afternoon.

Tanveer Hossain, an executive magistrate with the district administration's tourist cell, confirmed the recovery of the bodies.

The tragic incidents occurred at Inani Point and Laboni Channel as a storm struck the area. According to Delwar Hossain, general secretary of the Cox's Bazar District Fishing Trawler Owners' Association, 65 fishing trawlers went out of contact due to the harsh weather conditions. By Saturday morning, 62 of them returned safely, but three trawlers from the Sadar area, carrying 64 fishermen and sailors, are still unaccounted for.

Rescue teams continue their efforts to locate the missing individuals.
