The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) reported detaining 1,326 foreign nationals from India and Myanmar along the country’s borders in October. Legal action was pursued against 28 Indian citizens, while 1,298 Myanmar nationals were returned to their country.

Throughout the month, the BGB conducted multiple raids in border areas and seized contraband valued at Tk 225.88 crore. The anti-smuggling efforts led to the arrest of 243 smugglers and the detention of 345 Bangladeshi citizens involved in illegal crossings and smuggling, including drug trafficking.

Seized items included 986 grams of gold, over 14,000 sarees, 27,652 meters of fabric, 250,722 cosmetic products, and large quantities of goods such as tea leaves, sugar, coal, and garlic. The BGB also confiscated 21 trucks, 24 pickups, nine trolleys, 53 CNG/easy bikes, and 81 motorcycles used in smuggling.

Additionally, the BGB reported recovering pistols, guns, a rifle, grenades, and ammunition. The narcotics seized included 590,977 Yaba tablets and over three kilograms of crystal meth.

BGB spokesperson Shariful Islam disclosed the details of the month-long operations on Thursday.
