The Indian Border Security Force (BSF) on Friday pushed 26 more people, including four Rohingyas, into Bangladesh through border points in Naogaon and Moulvibazar.

With this latest incident, the total number of individuals — both Rohingyas and Indian nationals — forced across the border since May 7 has climbed to 2,055. Among them are 173 Rohingyas, including 50 registered with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in India.

According to Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) officials, BSF personnel from Balurghat camp pushed 18 people at dawn through Dhamoirhat and Sapahar in Naogaon. Fourteen of them, including four children and five women, were found wandering in a mango orchard at Satnapara, while four others were detained near the Chhatrahati border point.

In Moulvibazar’s Baralekha upazila, BSF’s 52 Battalion pushed eight people — four Rohingyas (a man, a woman, and two children) and four Bangladeshis — through the Batamoral Punji border point in two phases between 7:00am and 12:00pm.

Police said the detained Rohingyas will be sent to refugee camps in Cox’s Bazar, while the Bangladeshis will be handed over to their families.
