Bangladesh has called for the inclusion of the Rohingya repatriation issue in the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation’s (OIC) Ten-Year Plan of Action (2026-2035).

The appeal was made by Foreign Secretary Ambassador Md Jashim Uddin during a meeting with OIC Secretary General’s Special Envoy on Myanmar, Ambassador Ibrahim Khairat. The foreign secretary emphasized the need for continued OIC advocacy to ensure the sustainable return of Rohingyas to Myanmar, according to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The special envoy expressed the OIC’s willingness to collaborate with Bangladesh in organizing a High-Level Conference on the situation of Rohingya Muslims and other minorities in Myanmar.

During the meeting, both sides discussed ways to strengthen humanitarian support and enhance coordinated diplomatic efforts for Rohingya repatriation. They also exchanged views on the situation in Myanmar’s Arakan state and stressed the importance of joint efforts to resolve the crisis.

The foreign secretary urged OIC member states to step up their contributions to essential humanitarian assistance for the Rohingya community. In response, the special envoy reaffirmed the OIC’s commitment to working with its members to provide the necessary support.

Ambassador Jashim Uddin extended his gratitude to the special envoy for visiting Bangladesh and acknowledging the significance of addressing the Rohingya crisis.
