Swami Purnatmananda, the Principal of Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission in Dhaka, has expressed deep gratitude for the cooperation received from the Bangladesh Army during the recent Durga Puja celebrations. Speaking about the peaceful and secure environment, he praised both the army and the devotees for their support in ensuring an uninterrupted festival.
Sunday (October 13) he made this comment after celebrating Durga Puja.
“There was no chaos! No unacceptable incidents occurred. We had full cooperation from the devotees, and the army provided us with complete assurances for a safe celebration,” Swami Purnatmananda shared. He recounted a conversation with a senior army officer who reassured him, saying, “Maharaja, you should worship without worry, without any fear. I am taking responsibility on behalf of the army.”
The presence of uniformed and civil dressed army personnel provided an additional layer of security, Swami Purnatmananda noted. Their cooperation, along with that of the devotees, allowed the festivities to proceed smoothly and peacefully. He conveyed his “sincere thanks and gratitude” to the army for their unwavering support, emphasizing that their involvement was pivotal to the event’s success.
The event’s success highlights the importance of coordinated efforts between religious communities and security forces, especially in light of recent concerns about potential threats. Swami Purnatmananda commended the army’s commitment to ensuring that the celebrations were held without any disturbance, fostering a sense of security and peace for all who attended.
