Myanmar’s military has carried out artillery and drone attacks in Bago Region while also conducting an airstrike in Sagaing Region, reportedly killing two civilians and injuring another, according to local sources.

In Letpadan Township in Thayawady District, Bago Region, military positions opened fire with artillery on September 12, while drones were used to attack an area where civilians displaced by the conflict were sheltering, according to the Letpadan Township People’s Defence Force.

The attacks reportedly damaged three shelters used by displaced families and left one person injured. The injury was described as not life-threatening.

According to a Khit Thit report, artillery fire came from a military position based in Htan Pin Chaung village, while another military position near Yegyan village launched drone attacks against the displacement site.

Local resistance sources said residents in the area remain at risk from further artillery and aerial attacks and have urged displaced families to stay in safer locations.

Separately, military aircraft reportedly struck villages and gold-mining areas in Homalin Township, Sagaing Region, on September 6. The attacks reportedly killed two civilians, according to local resistance sources.

The latest incidents add to continuing reports of air and artillery attacks affecting civilian areas in parts of Myanmar, where fighting between the military and armed resistance groups has displaced large numbers of people.

Details of the reported attacks and casualties could not be independently verified.
