Pakistan to Host Multinational Naval Exercise with Participation from Bangladesh and 60 Other Countries

Pakistan is set to organize a major multinational naval exercise in February, with participation from 60 countries, including Bangladesh and Turkey. The biennial exercise, titled “AMAN-25,” will take place over five days near the northern Arabian Sea, close to the country’s main port city of Karachi.

According to a report by Anadolu Agency on Sunday (January 26), the exercise will run from February 7 to 11. Since 2007, Pakistan has been organizing such multinational military exercises, and this year marks the ninth iteration of the AMAN series. The theme for this year’s exercise is ‘Safe Seas; Prosperous Future.”
A key highlight of AMAN-25 will be the ‘AMAN Dialogue,’ where regional security and maritime challenges will be discussed. This dialogue aims to foster collaboration on strategies to address growing maritime challenges, bringing together naval chiefs, coast guard leaders, and senior maritime officials from around the world.

The five-day event will see the active participation of ships, aircraft, special operations forces, explosive ordnance disposal teams, marines, and observers from the participating countries. In a statement, the Pakistan Navy emphasized that the AMAN series is part of its broader effort to promote regional peace and cooperation.
The inaugural AMAN exercise in 2007, under the slogan “Together for Peace,” included 28 countries. By 2023, the number of participating nations grew to over 50, demonstrating the increasing significance of the exercise on the global stage.

Bangladesh, a recurring participant in the AMAN series, will once again showcase its capabilities and professionalism. The Bangladesh Navy’s ship, BNS Somudra Joy, has already departed for Karachi under the command of Captain Md. Shahriar Alam. The delegation includes 33 officers, 58 trainee officers, and 274 naval personnel who will take part in the international fleet review.
The Bangladesh Navy previously participated in the AMAN exercises in 2007, 2009, and 2013, earning praise for its professionalism and skill, which has enhanced the country’s image on the global stage.
The AMAN-25 exercise underscores Pakistan’s commitment to fostering regional cooperation and ensuring maritime security, which is vital for global peace and economic prosperity.
