Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Monday (18 March) urged the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) to increase funds to help Rohingya people.
She talked with UNDP goodwill ambassador and Crown Princess of Sweden Victoria at a city hotel in Dhaka.
The prime minister said Bangladesh had given shelter to forcibly displaced Rohingyas from Myanmar on humanitarian grounds and arranged improved accommodation for them. Ensuring many facilities Bangladesh made a better place for them to live on an island called Bhashanchar. Now some one lakh Rohingya can reside there in Bhashanchar, she added.
She wants more help from the UNDP to move more Rohingya to Bhashanchar.
Princess Victoria came to Bangladesh for four days. She will visit Rohingya camps in Cox’s Bazar and Bhashanchar.
They talked about things like climate change and how Sweden and Bangladesh can be better friends.
Princess Victoria thinks Sweden and Bangladesh can do more business together.
