Police detained 37 Rohingyas, including 21 children, 12 women, and 4 men, from Jahajpura in Baharchhara Union under Teknaf upazila of Cox’s Bazar as they attempted to cross into Bangladesh from Myanmar. The detainees, who were apprehended on the night of October 8, had arrived via trawlers with assistance from brokers.

Mohammad Gias Uddin, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Teknaf Police Station, confirmed the operation. The Rohingyas, all of whom admitted to being residents of various villages in Maungdaw, Myanmar, were detained with the help of locals and subsequently handed over to members of the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB).

In addition to those detained, at least 63 other Rohingyas sought refuge in a nearby camp after fleeing Myanmar, underscoring the continued migration of people from the conflict-ridden region.
