Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina emphasized on Sunday the need for India to undertake the Teesta project, given its significant relevance to the neighboring country.
"India holds the water of the River Teesta ... So, they should do the project and they would give whatever is necessary here if they do the project," stated Hasina during a press conference held at her official residence. The event was organized to discuss the outcomes of her recent visit to China.
Hasina revealed that China had made some proposals and conducted a feasibility study regarding the Teesta project. Similarly, India has also put forward offers and plans to conduct its own feasibility study.
The Prime Minister clarified that the government would choose the proposal most beneficial for Bangladesh, pending the completion of India's feasibility study.
