Singapore’s Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan has expressed his country’s eagerness to work closely with Bangladesh as the South Asian nation enters a new phase of political and economic transformation.

“With a young and hardworking population, Bangladesh has immense potential,” said Balakrishnan following his meeting with Lutfey Siddiqi, the Special Envoy on International Affairs to the Chief Adviser of Bangladesh.

During the “productive” discussion, the two sides explored ways to strengthen cooperation in trade and investment, renewable energy, digital innovation, connectivity, and port management.

The Singapore minister highlighted Bangladesh’s ongoing reforms and diversification of its economy, noting its focus on renewable energy and digital growth.

He also commended the contributions of the Bangladeshi community in Singapore, underscoring their role in fostering strong people-to-people and economic ties between the two nations.
