A deadly bomb explosion occurred at Quetta Railway Station in Pakistan's Balochistan province on November 9, 2024, killing at least 24 people and injuring over 30.

The blast happened on the platform as a Peshawar-bound train was preparing to depart. The attack took place amid a busy time with around 100 people present at the station.

Senior police official Mohammad Baloch stated that the incident appeared to be a suicide bombing, although investigations are ongoing to confirm this. The Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), a banned militant group, has claimed responsibility for the attack. The group's insurgency has been part of a larger struggle against the Pakistani state, particularly opposing Chinese investments under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project, which they view as exploitative.

Rescue operations have been ongoing, with many of the injured in critical condition. Security forces have secured the area, and a bomb disposal team is examining the site for evidence.

Balochistan government spokesman Shahid Rind said in a statement that police and security forces have reached the spot.
