Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus has urged all stakeholders to ensure the upcoming international conference on the Rohingya crisis becomes a major success, bringing renewed global attention to the longstanding humanitarian issue and securing greater support for the persecuted Myanmar minority.

Yunus made the appeal during a meeting with UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) chief Filippo Grandi at the state guest house Jamuna in Dhaka, according to the Chief Adviser’s Office.

"Let's make it a big success. Let's hope something concrete comes out of it," Yunus emphasized.

Grandi echoed the sentiment, saying, "Let's put this issue on the map. The UN conference is a great way to put it back on the table." He also expressed optimism that the mid-March visit of UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres could generate fresh momentum for addressing the crisis.

During his five-day visit to Bangladesh, Grandi also met with Foreign Ministry Adviser Touhid Hossain and Home Adviser Jahangir Alam. The advisers underscored the crucial role of UNHCR and the international community in resolving the crisis, urging the agency to explore alternative funding sources through donor organizations and development partners.
