Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed has reaffirmed Bangladesh’s firm stance against border killings, stressing that no life should be lost along the frontier shared with India.

“We don’t want to see any killing at the borders. The Indian side said they are also sincere about the matter,” the minister told reporters following a meeting with Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Pranay Verma, who paid a courtesy call at his office on Sunday.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS), the two sides discussed a wide range of bilateral issues, including trade and commerce, people-to-people exchanges, and border management. Ahmed underscored the importance of regular engagement between Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and Border Security Force (BSF), saying that most challenges can be resolved through dialogue and cooperation.

Salahuddin, who also serves as a Standing Committee member of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), said Dhaka remains committed to maintaining a relationship with New Delhi grounded in mutual respect and dignity

“Our goal is to foster a bilateral relationship based on equality, mutual respect, and shared interests,” he added.
