Bangladesh has reiterated its strong commitment to combating racism and racial discrimination worldwide, with Foreign Minister Dr. Khalilur Rahman urging coordinated global action to promote equality and human dignity.

Addressing a high-level commemorative meeting of the United Nations General Assembly marking the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination on Monday, the foreign minister said Bangladesh remains fully committed to all major international conventions aimed at eliminating racism in all forms.

Dr. Rahman stressed that despite global pledges, racial injustice continues to persist in conflict-affected regions, pointing specifically to the humanitarian crises in Rakhine State and Gaza. He noted that the international community is still far from achieving the objectives outlined in the Durban Declaration and Programme of Action.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the minister also highlighted the growing vulnerabilities of migrant workers worldwide, citing issues such as discrimination, exploitation, and limited access to justice, which continue to undermine the core values of the United Nations.

Reaffirming Bangladesh’s constitutional principles, he emphasized the government's ongoing efforts to strengthen human rights institutions, foster inclusivity, and ensure peaceful coexistence. He further called for increased investment in education, stronger measures to counter hate speech, and enhanced intercultural dialogue as key steps toward building a more equitable and discrimination-free world.
