A high-level Turkish delegation led by Necmettin Bilal Erdoğan, son of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, arrived in Cox’s Bazar on Thursday(February 19) for a one-day official visit focused on reviewing conditions in the Rohingya refugee camps.

The 13-member delegation, which includes former German football star Mesut Özil, landed at Cox’s Bazar Airport around 10:30 a.m. aboard a private flight from Dhaka.

They were received by Cox’s Bazar Deputy Commissioner A. Mannan and Superintendent of Police A.N.M. Sajedur Rahman.

Also accompanying the delegation are Abdullah Eren, president of the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA), Turkish Ambassador to Bangladesh Ramiz Sen, along with other officials, business representatives, and members of the media.

During the visit, the delegation is scheduled to attend a coordination meeting at the office of the Refugee Relief and Repatriation Commissioner (RRRC). They will also tour several Rohingya camps in Ukhiya, including Camps 4, 5, 9, 16 and 17, to assess ongoing humanitarian assistance efforts and the current living conditions of displaced Rohingya families.

Sources said the delegation will conclude the day by joining an iftar on the first day of Ramadan at the TIKA Kitchen Center in Ghumdhum Yahya Garden.

The visit underscores Türkiye’s continued engagement in humanitarian support for the Rohingya population sheltering in Bangladesh, as Ankara remains one of the key international partners involved in aid and relief initiatives for the displaced community.
