Cyclone 'Michaung' has already started raining in Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu in India. It is raining in Puducherry too. Several areas of Chennai are already under water.
Cyclone 'Michaung' is currently located 220 km east and south east of Puducherry and 220 km south east of Chennai. It is located 380 km south east of Nellore and 450 km south and south east of Machalipatnam. The cyclone will intensify and hit the southern Andhra Pradesh coast on Tuesday afternoon.
The Indian Meteorological Office said that the cyclone could make landfall between Nellore and Machalipatnam in Andhra Pradesh. At that time, the speed of the cyclone can be 90-100 km per hour and the maximum speed is 110 km. Coastal fishermen in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Andhra Pradesh have already been banned from going to sea.
Due to the impact of the cyclone, there is a possibility of rain in other districts of West Bengal including Kolkata from Tuesday to Thursday.
Meanwhile, India's neighboring country Bangladesh is also expected to have an impact. In other parts of the country including the coastal districts of Bangladesh, stormy winds are likely to blow with rain.
Bangladeshi meteorologist Bazlur Rashid says to media, the cyclone is not likely to move towards Bangladesh. However, there may be rain in different parts of the country including the coastal areas on Tuesday and Wednesday. This may reduce the temperature, indicating the onset of winter.
Meanwhile, the maritime ports of Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to hoist distant warning signal no two.
The cyclone was about 1545km southwest of Chittagong port, 1,510km southwest of Cox's Bazar port, 1,390km southwest of Mongla port and 1,405km southwest of Payra port, according to a special weather bulletin of Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) at 6am on Monday.
All fishing boats and trawlers over North Bay and deep sea have been advised to remain close to the coast and proceed with caution till further notice.
