Myanmar has expressed its readiness to deepen cooperation with the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and its member states, particularly in the industrial and investment sectors, according to Myanmar’s Ambassador to China, U Zaw Win Myint.
Speaking at the Green and Sustainable Development Forum held in Ningbo from April 28 to 30, the ambassador highlighted Myanmar’s commitment to advancing environmentally sustainable growth. He noted that green and sustainable development remains a national priority, with ongoing efforts focused on renewable energy expansion, environmental conservation, and the responsible use of natural resources.
Myanmar is also looking to strengthen collaboration with China, described as a key development partner, to accelerate initiatives in clean energy and environmental protection. The ambassador said such partnerships would help the country enhance carbon reduction measures and promote a greener economy through regional cooperation.
According to The New Light of Myanmar, Myanmar is particularly interested in leveraging SCO frameworks to support sustainable agricultural development alongside clean energy and environmental initiatives. The report added that increased engagement with SCO member states could open new avenues for investment and technology transfer aligned with green development goals.
The remarks come amid broader efforts by Myanmar to integrate sustainability into its economic planning while strengthening ties with regional partners through multilateral platforms.
