Strategic experts, policymakers, and academics convened in Dhaka on Monday (October 17) morning for a high-level round-table discussion shifting dynamics of the Rohingya crisis and its impact on Bangladesh, particularly in the post-election landscape.

The event, titled "Charting Peace, Securing Borders: Bangladesh's Post Election Challenges in the Rohingya Crisis," was a joint initiative by the Foundation for Strategic and Development Studies (FSDS) and the Conflict and Resilience Research Institute (CRRIC), Canada.

Participants noted that the crisis has evolved significantly, moving beyond a purely humanitarian challenge to become a complex issue of regional security, great-power competition, and new military realities in Myanmar with the rise of the Arakan Army.

The discussion, which included insights from figures like Dr. Kawser Ahmed, Executive Director of the Conflict and Resilience Research Institute, Canada, focused on the need for Bangladesh to develop a pragmatic, long-term strategy. The dialogue aimed to explore new diplomatic and security frameworks to navigate the multifaceted challenges and work towards sustainable solutions.
