Thailand is studying the feasibility of a large-scale “Disneyland Thailand” entertainment project in the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC), Deputy Prime Minister and Transport Minister Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn has said, confirming that the proposal is already under consideration as a public–private partnership (PPP).

Responding to questions about whether such a project could realistically be delivered, Phiphat said the plan goes well beyond a theme park. It includes a proposed world-class concert hall and an international-standard stadium with a capacity of at least 80,000 seats, designed to host global concerts, major sporting events and large-scale festivals. He stressed that the development would not involve a casino.

According to Asia News Network, the EEC was selected for the project due to its advanced infrastructure, including international airports, high-speed rail, deep-sea ports and strong connectivity to major tourism hubs such as Bangkok, Pattaya and Rayong.

Phiphat said the project is being pitched as a global “Entertainment & Lifestyle Hub” aimed at creating jobs, attracting high-spending visitors and boosting income levels, while also supporting Thailand’s ambitions in music, sports and creative industries.

On the political front, he said continuity would be critical for a project of this scale, adding that if voters back him and the Bhumjaithai Party to lead the next government, the plan would move forward.

A source close to Phiphat said preliminary roadmaps and investor discussions are already under way, noting that the EEC’s legal framework would allow the next administration to build on existing groundwork rather than start anew.
