Foreign Minister of Bangladesh Dr. Hasan Mahmud revealed on Friday that Bangladesh and Thailand have expressed their shared commitment to addressing the Rohingya crisis collaboratively.

"Both Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Thai Prime Minister Shretha Thavisin have voiced their eagerness to work together towards resolving the Rohingya crisis," Dr. Mahmud announced during a press briefing following a bilateral meeting between the leaders of the two nations.

The meeting between Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Prime Minister Shretha Thavisin took place at the Government House, the office of the Thai Premier, as part of Prime Minister Hasina's six-day official visit to Bangkok.

"In addressing the Rohingya crisis, both Prime Ministers have underscored their determination to collaborate, recognizing the challenges faced by both countries due to the influx of forcibly displaced Myanmar nationals," Dr. Mahmud emphasized.

Highlighting Bangladesh's humanitarian efforts, the Foreign Minister noted that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has provided shelter to 1.3 million Rohingya refugees, while acknowledging that Thailand has also accommodated a significant number of displaced Rohingyas.

"They (Thailand) are also grappling with the influx of Rohingya refugees fleeing persecution in Myanmar," Dr. Mahmud added.
