Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport declared a full emergency following a bomb threat directed at a SpiceJet flight originating from Darbhanga. Despite the gravity of the situation, the aircraft, Flight SG 8496, landed safely, and subsequent thorough searches by authorities revealed nothing suspicious.

SpiceJet reported that the bomb threat was received via a call to its reservation office, specifically targeting Flight SG 8496 en route from Darbhanga to Delhi. In response, airport authorities were promptly alerted, leading to the relocation of the aircraft to an isolated bay for a comprehensive search operation.

"On January 24th, a call was received at the SpiceJet reservation office regarding a bomb threat on Flight SG 8496 from Darbhanga to Delhi. The flight safely landed at Delhi airport at 6 pm, and subsequent to deplaning passengers, the aircraft is undergoing a meticulous search conducted by security agencies," SpiceJet stated.

This incident is not the first time SpiceJet has faced such a threat. In January of the previous year, the airline received a similar bomb threat for its Pune-Delhi flight, Flight SG 8938. However, on that occasion, the threat turned out to be a false alarm, a fact discovered after thorough inspection at an isolation bay.

Highlighting the promptness of the response, a SpiceJet spokesperson clarified that the bomb threat for Flight SG 8496 was received before the aircraft took off, allowing for immediate precautionary measures. The aircraft was then moved to the isolation bay for a thorough examination, where security officials found no signs of anything suspicious.

While such incidents cause temporary disruptions and evoke concerns about aviation security, the efficiency of the emergency response and the subsequent meticulous searches underscore the commitment to passenger safety and the need for constant vigilance within the aviation industry.
