Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs Adviser Supradip Chakma emphasized the government's commitment to fostering harmony, peace, and unity among all communities across the country. His remarks came during the celebration of the traditional Nabanna Festival 2024, organized by the Garo community at Banani Model School and College grounds in Dhaka on Thursday (November 22).

"We are dedicated to preserving and cherishing our manners, behavior, dress, culture, heritage, and traditions," said the adviser, according to a press release issued by the ministry on Friday (November 23).

The Nabanna Festival, marking the harvest season in November and December. It was highlighted by the Wangala, a significant cultural celebration of the Garo community. Observed in late autumn, the Wangala features offerings and worship to seek divine blessings for a bountiful harvest, good health, and prosperity in the coming year.

The event showcased Garo cultural heritage through performances such as the "Zum Nritya", with artists dressed in vibrant traditional costumes.

The Wangala Celebration Committee added to the festive spirit by organizing stalls featuring traditional foods, handicrafts, clothing, and souvenirs that reflected the unique identity of the Garo community.This celebration served as a reminder of the importance of cultural diversity and the shared goal of peaceful coexistence among all communities.
