U.S. President Joe Biden and Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto have issued a stern condemnation of the ongoing violence against civilians in Myanmar, calling for immediate action to halt hostilities.

In a joint statement released following their meeting on Tuesday, the leaders pressed Myanmar's regime to facilitate conditions for a national dialogue aimed at returning the nation to an inclusive democratic framework, according to Narinjara News.

The White House underscored Biden’s commitment to the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in addressing the Myanmar crisis. Both leaders reaffirmed their unwavering support for ASEAN’s efforts, particularly the implementation of the “ASEAN Five-Point Consensus,” which outlines steps to achieve peace and stability in the region.

The statement also acknowledged the contributions of ASEAN and United Nations special envoys in mitigating the crisis.

Biden and Subianto jointly appealed to all parties in Myanmar to exercise restraint, prioritize civilian protection, and ensure unhindered delivery of humanitarian aid to affected populations.
