The Mandalay People's Defense Force (PDF) has claimed to have seized 11 Myanmar junta bases in Singu Township, Mandalay Region, over an intense eight-day campaign. The operation, launched on June 30, saw coordinated attacks by the Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) and its PDF allies. Key locations, including bases at Kyi Tauk Pauk, Kan Taung, Pin Lal Gyi, Shwe Pyi, and Lat Pan Hla police station, have reportedly fallen since Wednesday. The PDF also announced the capture of Lieutenant Colonel Hlaing Htun Aung of Thabeikkyin Township along with 15 other junta troops. Adding to the junta’s woes, pro-junta Phyu Saw Htee militias have begun surrendering. Earlier in the offensive, the PDF claimed control over Doe New Ywar, Namp Hut, Mar Lae Sal, Ywar Taw Lay bases, and Nwal Yone police station in Singu Township. Significant quantities of arms and ammunition have been seized from these bases, along with helicopter airdrops. "The Singu operation is crucial for gaining control of the Mandalay-Mogoke road," PDF spokesman Ko Osmond told The Irrawaddy. The PDF has not limited its actions to Singu. Since June 25, it has been on the offensive in Madaya Township, capturing 25 junta positions. Additionally, the group has been targeting junta strongholds in Pyin Oo Lwin, Mogoke, Patheingyi, Amarapura, and Thabeikkyin townships. In northern Shan State, the PDF is actively participating in offensives alongside the Ta’ang National Liberation Army. Founded in February 2021 in TNLA territory, the PDF continues to expand its influence and operations against the junta.
