Media City Qatar has entered a landmark partnership with the German Press Agency (dpa) to establish a cutting-edge regional editorial hub in Doha, solidifying Qatar’s status as a premier media hub in the Gulf. Set to commence operations in June 2025, this collaboration marks a major stride toward advancing sustainable media infrastructure and enriching journalism across the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region.
The agreement, spanning an initial five-year period, aims to empower media ecosystems through high-quality, multilingual news coverage in Arabic, German, English, and Spanish. The hub will not only expand dpa’s editorial footprint in the Middle East but also serve as a platform for media innovation, professional development, and regional storytelling.
A key component of the partnership is its emphasis on sustainable media development. By creating a centralized editorial base, Media City Qatar and dpa are investing in long-term media infrastructure that supports digital transformation, regional content creation, and cross-border collaborations. This initiative aligns with Qatar National Vision 2030, which envisions a knowledge-based society where media serves as a driver for socio-economic progress.
"By welcoming dpa to our ecosystem of over 200 licensed partners, we reinforce our commitment to supporting Arabic content and advancing regional storytelling," said Eng. Jassim Mohamed Al Khori, CEO of Media City Qatar. “This partnership is a significant step in shaping the future of media, driving innovation, and ensuring diverse stories from our region reach global audiences.”
Beyond its editorial functions, the hub will serve as a training ground for emerging media talent. dpa will offer professional development programs, targeting Qatari youth and regional content creators. These capacity-building efforts will focus on modern journalism techniques, fact-based reporting, and digital storytelling, opening doors for young professionals eager to enter the evolving media landscape.
“We are delighted that, together with Media City Qatar, we have succeeded in expanding dpa’s editorial presence in the Gulf region,” said Peter Kropsch, CEO of dpa. “With the new editorial hub in Doha, we are extending our independent and non-partisan reporting from a region that is more and more getting into the focus of global public.”
dpa’s new presence in Doha adds to its global network of 137 locations, reinforcing its commitment to unbiased, multilingual journalism. The collaboration also reflects Media City Qatar’s strategy of attracting international media powerhouses to the region, positioning Qatar as a bridge between East and West in the realm of global news dissemination.
With ongoing partnerships across major media and tech sectors, Media City Qatar is rapidly becoming a launchpad for future-forward media ventures—where sustainability, innovation, and inclusivity take center stage.
