When Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Bilawal Bhutto Zardari withdrew his name from the race for the prime ministership, it was thought that Nawaz Sharif would become Pakistan's prime minister for a record fourth time. But in a game changer on Tuesday, the party nominated Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) president Shahbaz Sharif as the country's new prime minister. It is reported that elder brother Nawaz has nominated the brother.

On Tuesday, PML-N spokesperson Maryam Aurangzeb told X Handle that PML-N chief Nawaz (74) has nominated his younger brother Shahbaz as the prime ministerial candidate and his daughter Maryam Nawaz as the chief minister of Punjab province. Shahbaz is now 72 years old and daughter Maryam is 50 years old.

PPP chairman Bilal Bhutto Zardari announced his withdrawal from the prime ministerial race on Tuesday. 35-year-old Bilal said that he does not want to be the prime minister. Rather, his father Asif Ali Zardari is suitable for the presidency. He also said that even if his party supports the PML-N, it will not be part of the government.

No political party — PML-N, PPP or Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) — could win the necessary seats to form the government in the polls held on February 8. As a result, the deadlock continues in neighboring Pakistan. Pakistan is set to get a new prime minister as Bilal's party from outside announced to support Sharif in this situation. It was revealed on Tuesday night that that person is going to be Shahbaz Sharif.

PML-N has the support of Pakistan Army. But even with the full support of the army, the Sharif brothers have failed to raise the tide of public support. Brother Shahbaz also had no doubt that Nawaz was the prime minister even in this situation. He announced during the day on Tuesday that his brother is going to become the Prime Minister of the country for the fourth time. But as the night progressed, the game turned around! Elder brother Nominated Shahbaz's name as the next Prime Minister of Pakistan.
