The Foreign Minister of the "Chinaland" (Government of Myanmar's Chin Province) Sui Khar says, the Burmese army will be completely crippled by 2024. Then maybe Junta will give an alternative proposal excluding the military path. May call for discussion.
He said these in an interview published in Bangladeshi media Prothom Alo on Saturday (February 17). Sui Khar is the vice chairman of the Chin National Front or CNF. According to the newspaper, two independent researchers named Altaf Parvez and Ashfaq Rani interviewed him.
When asked about the possibility of the Myanmar army becoming inactive, he said, their (junta) installations are constantly being occupied. Much of central Burma is under the control of the People's Defense Forces. The institutions they are losing, they are rarely trying to regain. Rather, they have now taken a much more defensive stance. By 2024 the Burmese army will be completely crippled. Then maybe he will give an alternative proposal excluding the military path. May call for discussion.
Regarding the Three Brotherhood's 'Operation 1027', Sui Khar says, it began in October in Northern Shan Province. So far, resistance fighters have taken control of countless posts and camps. The situation in North Shan is calm now. Intense resistance is going on in Rakhine, Chin, Karen, Karenni, Magoy, Sagaing. Tatma-D's condition seems to be that they are neither prepared nor capable of fighting. In various areas, they are running away from military installations like battalion headquarters, tactical command headquarters and regional command headquarters without resistance. From a military point of view, Nay Pyi Taw is now in a shaky position.
In the interview, he thinks that the reason behind the development of a unified political or armed movement in Myanmar is that the Chinese began to unite from the persecution of the war against Burmese domination. Non-Bamars in Burma have long been victims of Bamar supremacy, he said. Bamars try to dominate the minorities. Seven decades have passed like this. There was a similar tendency among the NLD. There is some doubt in that continuity. Bumars never thought about equality. We are not allowed to exercise our right to self-determination. As a result, there is a kind of mistrust between us. It will take time to integrate. Non-Bamaras will never leave all self-governance in the hands of the Bamars.
Sui Khar said about the victory in this war against the junta government, many people thought they were invincible. Now everyone can see, they are not invincible, but decaying institutions. Everyone has seen how they face off in North Shan. They do not have full control over important cities either. Everywhere they face resistance. Earlier the Bama people did not take up arms against this army. This time it happened. All of Burma is now the frontline of resistance. As things stand, it looks like the Burmese army will be completely useless by this year.
Sui Khar considers Burma's geopolitical importance in South Asia and Southeast Asia both a blessing and a curse for Myanmar. He is also disappointed with the US Burma Act. He said that no implementation has been seen at the field level. He said that the United States may be thinking that the China will react to this. But when the junta is collapsing, the implementation of the Burma-Act would have played a good role.
About China's influence in Myanmar, CNF Vice Chairman said, Many people think that China wants to exploit us. They think of their own interests rather than a stable Burma. I think a stable Burma would be good for the People's Republic of China. They should review their policy position. China could do business well here under elected representatives. Now there is a problem.
Meanwhile, thinking that India is trusting the junta government, he said, I don't think India will be able to support Min Aung Hlai until the end. They have to change their position.
Regarding building a wall along the Indian border, Sui Khar said they can do that. But we have to remember that we have blood relation with the Mizos. A border wall cannot obstruct our movement. The wall may not be an option. India should be considered as an alternative.
When asked whether there is any possibility of Myanmar going back to the 2008 constitution, Chinaland's foreign minister said, impossible! We are not fighting for a bargain with the military junta over the future of Burma. They are no longer relevant forces to talk about the future of the country. We will build it as a union.
To the question of the two researchers about the Kuki people's 'greater Kukiland', he said, We have been in the present state for more than 100 years. Much of the past has changed now. We are used to where we are now. So the chances of something like that are about impossible.
Sui Khar always wants Bangladesh by his side in this war against the Myanmar junta. He said that he tried to communicate with the Bangladesh government. We tried to communicate once; Especially after the start of the revolutionary movement against the junta in 2021. We want Bangladesh government to support us.
