Bangladesh has called on Commonwealth countries to step up support for Rohingya repatriation to Myanmar while pushing for stronger climate financing and investment cooperation to address growing regional and global challenges.

Acting Foreign Minister Humaiun Kobir made the appeal at a retreat session of the Pre-CHOGM Commonwealth Foreign Affairs Ministers' Meeting at the American University of Antigua in St John's, Antigua and Barbuda, on November 2.

He urged Commonwealth members to work together to ensure the safe, voluntary and dignified return of Rohingya refugees to Myanmar, stressing the need for sustained international support to resolve the protracted crisis.

According to BSS, Kobir also called for the operationalization of the Loss and Damage Fund and a unified Commonwealth mechanism to attract investment among member states.

Addressing the wider global situation, he highlighted growing concerns over peace and security, climate resilience, energy and food security, and the responsible use of emerging technologies. He called for stronger collective efforts to tackle these interconnected challenges.

Kobir is leading Bangladesh's delegation to the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in Antigua and Barbuda, scheduled for November 1–4.
