Newly released documents linked to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein have triggered fresh political and public scrutiny after references surfaced involving Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, billionaire Elon Musk, and the mother of New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani.
The latest tranche of files, published by the US Department of Justice under the Epstein Files Transparency Act, runs into millions of pages and includes emails, contracts, and correspondence spanning more than a decade.
According to The Jerusalem Post, one email attributed to Epstein makes an unsubstantiated claim regarding Prime Minister Modi’s 2017 state visit to Israel the first ever by an Indian prime minister. The message alleges that Modi acted on Epstein’s “advice” during the visit. India’s Ministry of External Affairs strongly rejected the insinuation, stressing that the only factual element was Modi’s officially documented visit. MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal dismissed the email as “trashy ruminations by a convicted criminal,” stating there was no evidence of any meeting or advisory relationship between Modi and Epstein. Opposition parties in India have nevertheless called for clarification.

The files have also renewed attention on Epstein’s connections with prominent business figures. Emails show that Elon Musk had correspondence with Epstein in the early 2010s, including discussions about a possible visit to Epstein’s private island, though there is no record that such a visit ever occurred. Musk has publicly denied any personal association, saying he repeatedly declined invitations and warned that limited email contact could later be misused to smear his reputation.
Another name drawing attention is Mira Nair, the mother of New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, who is listed in the files after being photographed at a 2009 afterparty hosted by Ghislaine Maxwell following the premiere of the film Amelia. Former US president Bill Clinton and other high-profile figures were also reported to have attended the event. Mamdani has not commented on his mother’s appearance in the documents.

According to TRT, the newly released records also highlight Epstein’s wide-ranging financial and geopolitical interests, including a 2015 agreement in which his company, Southern Trust Company Inc., signed a $25 million deal with the Rothschild Group to provide risk analysis and algorithm-related services. Separate emails discuss potential investments in Somaliland, including water exports, financial services tied to diaspora remittances, and media ventures, underscoring the breadth of Epstein’s global network.
US authorities said the release bringing the total number of disclosed Epstein-related documents to over six million was carried out in compliance with transparency requirements, with sensitive and graphic material removed. Epstein died by suicide in a New York jail in 2019 while awaiting trial on federal sex trafficking charges, after previously serving jail time in Florida for soliciting a minor.
While many of the references in the files remain unverified or disputed, their public release has reignited debate over accountability, influence, and the lingering reach of Epstein’s connections across politics, business, and international affairs.
