Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei commended the country's armed forces for what he described as a "success" following Tehran's unprecedented direct assault on Israel last week.
During a meeting with Iranian military commanders on Sunday, Khamenei lauded the armed forces for their achievements in recent events, marking Iran's first-ever direct attack on Israel from its own territory.
Despite Israel and its allies intercepting most of the missiles and drones, causing only minor damage in Israel, Khamenei emphasized Iran's demonstration of power during the operation.
"In the recent operation, the armed forces managed to minimise costs and maximise gains," Khamenei stated, urging military officials to continually pursue innovation and understand the enemy's tactics.
Addressing debates surrounding the attack's specifics, Khamenei asserted that the number of missiles launched and their accuracy were secondary to Iran's demonstration of strength, as aired by state television.
The 85-year-old leader made these remarks in a meeting attended by top ranks from Iran's regular military, police, and the powerful paramilitary Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC).
Iran's assault came in response to a suspected Israeli strike on April 1 targeting the Iranian consulate in Damascus, Syria, resulting in casualties, including two IRGC generals.
However, Khamenei's comments did not touch upon the apparent Israeli retaliatory strike on Isfahan last Friday, despite Iran activating air defenses and grounding commercial flights across much of the country.
