The specter of violence looms large over Myanmar's Rakhine State and Magwe Region as the military junta orchestrates a series of airstrikes, claiming the lives of approximately 20 civilians in their wake.
The aerial onslaught, unleashed on consecutive days this week, has cast a pall of devastation and despair across the affected regions, leaving scores injured and communities ravaged, according to reports from The Irrawaddy.
In Thandwe Township, Rakhine State, the echoes of junta firepower reverberate through once-peaceful villages, as residents bear witness to the indiscriminate bombardment of ethnic Kaman village, Lin Thi. Shockingly, amidst a landscape devoid of reported conflict, the junta's assault claims the lives of seven innocent souls, while leaving numerous others maimed and wounded. Compounding the tragedy, impassable roads shackle the populace, trapping them within the throes of danger and uncertainty.
Tuesday's onslaught extends its deadly embrace to Kin Chaung village in Maungdaw Township, where the thunderous roar of military aircraft heralds death and destruction. Rakhine Media reports a grim toll of four lives lost and seven individuals grievously injured, as the aerial assault razes homes and a sacred monastery to rubble, leaving a scarred landscape in its wake.
