A joint US-Israeli strike targeted an Iranian port city on Sunday, hitting a quay near the strategically important Strait of Hormuz and killing at least five people, Iranian state media reported. Four others were wounded in the attack, according to the official IRNA news agency, which called the assault “criminal.”
Earlier on Sunday, loud explosions were reported across northern Tehran, with smoke rising from the city’s northeast. It was not immediately clear what caused the blasts or the extent of damage.
According to Al Arabiya, the strikes are part of a series of US-Israeli operations targeting Iranian sites since February 28, heightening fears of escalation in the region.
The attacks come amid a cycle of retaliatory actions. Iran has reportedly fired on US and Israeli positions and struck other regional targets in response, raising concerns about the potential for broader conflict near the Strait of Hormuz, a key route for global oil shipments.
