Myanmar and China marked the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations with a commemorative ceremony held in Myanmar’s capital, Nay Pyi Taw, on Sunday, reaffirming their longstanding ties and pledging to deepen cooperation in the years ahead.

During the event, Myanmar leader Min Aung Hlaing underscored the enduring strength of the “Paukphaw” (fraternal) bond between the two nations and expressed readiness to work hand in hand with China to build a Myanmar-China community with a shared future.

“Myanmar remains steadfast in its commitment to strengthen our close and friendly relations with China,” Min Aung Hlaing said. “Over the past 75 years, the friendship between our governments, peoples, and societies has flourished, with notable progress in investment, trade, and other key sectors.”

He reiterated Myanmar’s adherence to the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence, calling them a cornerstone of bilateral ties and a model for global diplomacy. Min Aung Hlaing also voiced Myanmar’s continued support for the one-China policy, as well as Beijing’s Global Development Initiative, Global Security Initiative, and Global Civilization Initiative.

Expressing appreciation for China’s ongoing support, Min Aung Hlaing thanked the Chinese government for its assistance in peace efforts, economic and social development, and its role in providing aid during Myanmar’s recent earthquake relief efforts.

China's Pledge to Strengthen Ties

Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar Ma Jia echoed the sentiment of deep-rooted friendship, noting that the two countries share geographic proximity and a rich history of people-to-people exchanges spanning millennia.

“China-Myanmar relations have always been as solid as a rock,” Ma said. “The destinies of our two nations are closely linked. Together, we continue to write new chapters of brotherly cooperation across all fields.”

She emphasized China’s commitment to a peaceful, secure, and prosperous neighborhood, highlighting principles of amity, sincerity, mutual benefit, and inclusiveness in its regional diplomacy.

Ma added that China will work to enhance strategic mutual trust, deepen development integration, maintain regional stability, and expand exchanges with Myanmar in various sectors.

Reaffirming China's support, the ambassador said Beijing would continue assisting in post-earthquake reconstruction efforts and advancing the vision of a China-Myanmar community with a shared future.

The ceremony symbolized not only a diplomatic milestone but also a renewed pledge to uphold regional cooperation and mutual prosperity amid evolving geopolitical dynamics.
