As the holy month of Ramadan is fast approaching, Trade Minister Zulkifli Hasan has alleviated concerns about staple food availability, particularly rice. Speaking from the Trade Ministry Building in Jakarta, Hasan confirmed the country's possession of sufficient rice stocks to meet the needs of its population during the upcoming fasting period. Ramadan, observed by Muslims worldwide, witnesses increased food consumption due to pre-dawn meals (sahur) and evening feasts (iftar), putting pressure on essential food supplies. Hasan's statement aimed to reassure the public and emphasized the government's proactive measures to secure adequate rice stocks through domestic production support, strategic imports, and market operations.
