UN Expert Calls For Regional Action on Rohingya Boat Arrivals
Tom Andrews, the U.N. Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in Myanmar, emphasized the need for regional collaboration to conduct coordinated search and rescue operations. He applauded the Government of Indonesia for upholding the rights of the Rohingya and facilitating disembarkation in accordance with domestic law. However, he stressed that a collective emergency response from the region was essential.
